Ingredients:

For the chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (preferably panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the sauce:

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.

  3. Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs with water in another dish, and put the breadcrumbs mixed with shredded cheddar cheese in a third dish.

  4. Coat each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, press the chicken into the breadcrumb and cheese mixture, ensuring it's thoroughly coated. Repeat with all the chicken breasts.

  6. While the chicken is baking, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan, combine the cream of chicken soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce is heated through and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  7. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oven and spoon the sauce evenly over each chicken breast.

  8. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted and gooey.
