Chicken Cordon Bleu Cassrole


 Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole is a delicious twist on the classic Chicken Cordon Bleu dish, usually made with breaded chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese. Here's a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded (you can also use rotisserie chicken)
  • 8 slices of ham, chopped
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup of butter, melted
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt ¼ cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about a minute until it's lightly golden brown.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and chicken broth until the mixture is smooth. Cook and stir until it thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and remaining melted butter.
  5. Layer half of the shredded chicken in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the chopped ham, then half of the Swiss cheese slices.
  6. Pour half of the sauce over the layers in the baking dish.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese.
  8. Pour the remaining sauce over the top of the casserole.
  9. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  12. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
