Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage or beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks.
  3. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Italian seasoning, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Pour the pizza sauce into the skillet and stir to combine with the meat and vegetables. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
  6. In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta on the bottom.
  7. Spread half of the meat and sauce mixture over the pasta.
  8. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the meat layer.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, meat and sauce mixture, and cheeses.
  10. If desired, add your favorite pizza toppings on top of the cheese layer.
  11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Once done, let the pizza casserole cool slightly before slicing and serving.
